Scripture Reading: Psalms 145: 1-3, 9
I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.
Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
The Lord is good to all; and his tender mercies are over all his works.

Sometimes our burdens seem more than we can bear, and we wonder how we can go on. God is able to lift us up because He is great beyond discovery, He does mighty acts across many generations, and is full of glorious honor and majesty. We must remember to always give God the praise and worship that He so greatly deserves no matter what may come our way. We must praise God in good times and in bad times.
So, when it seems as though life has you bogged down, just remember the precious words of Jesus when he said, "In this world you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
Prayer
Dear Lord, when I am faced with the many troubles that will come my way, help me to keep quiet and be still while giving You praise and worship realizing my confidence is in Your love, kindness, and faithfulness.

Scripture Reading: 1 Peter 4:12-16
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part He is evil spoken of, but on your part He is glorified.
John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Study
Christians easily become entrenched in daily routines. Then when trials come, we are all too often bewildered by the sudden interruption. The Scriptures tell us in today' passage that we should never be astonished at tribulation. Travail should never stagger us. We live in a hostile, sinful, decaying world. There are sun and drought, rain and floods, health and disease, food and famine.
We have and adversary, the devil, who is called "the ruler of this world" (John 12:31). At present, God allows the devil's destructive tactics to continue-aimed at humankind. Together, the power of sin and Satan warp our character and behavior, inciting all manner of evil-jealousy, murder, hatred, greed, slander.
Jesus said, "In the world you have tribulation" (John 16:33). If you are suffering, you may be confused, but don't be surprised.
Prayer
Too often I am bewildered by my trials, Lord. Help me not to be surprised by suffering but to know that when it comes, You are right there with me in the midst of it.
